The work this week has been such a great learning experience. I feel like I am growing in a more positive direction. I'm very grateful for the investigators and the people that we have to teach, I feel like even though I may not be a great teacher or missionary, that God is still trusting me to try on these people. For example, this week, we only found one new investigator, and he was a former. But He was found through a recent convert, and he is pretty prepared. Even though me and Elder Zhang aren't entirely sure how to approach him, we are continuing to teach him because he says he wants to be baptized.
His name is Kevin, and for some reason, he knows with a certainty that out of all the christian beliefs, he wants to be a Mormon. When we asked him why, he said because of how nice the people are and that they are the best example to him of how he wants to live his life. It's awesome because his friends are already in our branch, and that's perfect for fellowship. We teach him in Mandarin, and he's 39 (but looks 28) We aren't sure what it means, but we keep seeing him walking on the street as we drive by, and he keeps running into us, as well as attending our English class. You'd think that with all this activity with us, that he would be really progressing, but it's so frustrating and confusing that despite all these good intentions, he's not keeping commitments! He hasn't even checked out the Mormon.org website, he just opened it, and then he closed it for some reason! He's even asked me to teach him in English class!!! We were talking about his family in English, and then he said, "since we talk about religion, we talk about mormon now.
The work with E. Zhang has really improved, I'm really learning to take lead in the area. I'm so grateful for the times that we got to plan. Something we really improved on was our Finding. We had a branch finding activity where President Alfred Lee gave a lecture on how to find jobs. We had three people come after at least 15 hrs of proselyting and propaganda. Super awesome activity. We want to work on our finding, and we feel like through being timely with plans and such, we can find the people we need when we need to.
The missionaries in the Union City district made alot of progress with our members. Every companionship had improvements directly connected with efforts that the ward is making for the missionary work. It was stuff that was reported through the stake reports a few months before.
